Creating Civil Union: Opening Hearts and Minds

In February 2001, I began work on a photo/essay project called Creating Civil Union: Opening Hearts and Minds. Through image and written word, the focus of this art project was to put a human face on the controversial issue of gay and lesbian marriage rights.

As the exhibit took form, I decided to expand the project by reproducing the collection in book form. In April 2002, Common Humanity Press, LLC, was established to publish the book version of Creating Civil Union. Both exhibit and book made their debut in October 2002.
